KEY EVENT TAKEAWAYS

Lauren’s topic: Build Your Strong Community Anywhere

Lauren used a great example we could all relate to…our younger selves who haven’t quite found our “sound.” As she reminisced about those years of middle school band and the lesson she learned, she was able to pull four factors from that experience to build a strong community.

“To build strength and legacy, You need a sense of Belonging, a Common mission or goal, a way to collaborate, learn, and distribute leadership, and clear expectations and roles.” She then provided four steps to achieve that strong community.

Step 1: Use Qualitative Data. ACTUALLY LISTEN and have a conversation.

Step 2: Gather Quantitative Data – check for emotional response.

Step 3:  Make it personal and easy for people to tell you what they care about

Step 4: Set the expectations!

Something that really stuck out to us: Communities who learn together, GROW Larger and STAY Longer. #socialmediashowandtell

Keri’s topic: Future Proofing Your Social Media Strategy

If this topic isn’t relevant, we don’t know what is! Keri shared some fantastic ways to future proof your social media / business strategy for 2023 using the 70/20/10 principle. Let’s dive in deeper….

We all know the recession is looming, but Keri helped us prepare by breaking down our social media work  into (3) categories:

70% what to focus, enhance and optimize

20% what to expand

10% what to experiment

But knowing the formula is only half the battle. So Keri walked us through (3) questions to ask yourself when deciding which client / project falls into those specific categories. She then instructed us to ask WHO, WHAT, WHERE and HOW you will execute those projects.

A very important takeaway: provide irrefutable evidence of your work. Create a recap, include takeaways with solid data and don’t forget to make it look good!

Keri provided solid guidance on preparing for the future: The majority of time and effort should be devoted to the most important, business driving activities and the remainder of time and energy should be spent on paving the way for new growth.

Tim Schmoyer: A Proven Structure for Boosting Video Growth

Is there  one system that can work for boosting video growth across all platforms? Nope! But Tim Schmoyer, leading YouTube strategist, walks us through a proven structure for boosting video growth. And it’s a structure that has been used for thousands of years to capture and hold people’s attention for powerful results!

As most of us know, there are three main benefits we see consistently happen on videos  that “succeed”

  • Engagement

  • Emotional Connection

  • Watch time

But what these elements really boil down to?……influence.

As Tim said (and we most certainly agree) - the people who master the art of telling stories win at almost anything they do. But he also makes the important note that influencing and being an Influencer aren’t necessarily the same thing. What is “influence” really? It’s the ability to:

  • Persuade someone’s mind

  • Motivate someone’s will

  • Guide someone’s actions

Tim then shared the three ingredients for a story:

VICARIOUS EXPERIENCE

Experience is critical to change and getting someone to adopt a new behavior or viewpoint.

When you can’t actually be there, stories are the next best thing.

TROJAN HORSE EFFECT

People are resistant to change and are on high alert for anything new which may pose a threat.

But well told stories lower our defenses.  We become passive while engaging more.

BRAIN CHEMISTRY

Well-told stories release certain chemicals and subsequent chemical reactions in the brain that tap into our very wiring as humans.

Tim then simplified the structure into (3) separate acts, but remember not all videos will be this detailed. But framework is key! He so kindly provides a script template with story structure and prompts.
